Are you still working diligently on the SAT or considering to take the SAT soon? Take a look at the table below because now there are more than 1,000 U.S. accredited 4-year colleges and universities may not need SAT as a required application credential. Please note that there are 2,870 accredited 4-year colleges, according to the latest data released by the National Center for Education Statistics. That means more than 35% of the accredited 4-year colleges don’t require SAT scores for admissions. Surprisingly, top schools like University of Chicago, New York University, George Washington University, and the University of Texas Austin have also de-emphasized the importance of SAT or ACT.
However, the majority of U.S. colleges, especially schools in the top 1% like Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and many other prestigious institutions still demand SAT or ACT scores.
