Police brutality is more commonplace in the United States than ever before. The evening of September 16, 2017, where a Georgia Tech engineering student was shot and killed by poorly trained campus police, is yet another example American police getting away with murder.
Given the fact that American law enforcement personnel have many non-lethal ways of neutralizing a threat, we question the need to shoot and kill a student who was clearly incapable of reason and armed with only a knife.
There were plenty ways to subdue that student without murdering him including shooting him in the legs or using a taser to temporarily paralyze him. The question is, should international students fear American police as much as any other criminal walking the streets?
