Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan

HEC offers government scholarships to its citizens who want to study abroad.   Contacting HEC can be the most direct and easiest way for you to get info on various scholarships for Pakistani students.

United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP)

The scholarships for undergraduate students allow Pakistani students, under the age of 25, with excellent academic performance, to study in a U.S. college or university.

Other funds for graduate students, working professionals, Fulbright Scholars, or teachers are described on USEFP’s web page.

According to the USEFP’s website, “The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States. USEFP is a bi-national commission composed of an equal number of Pakistanis and Americans, with the Chair alternating between a Pakistani and an American. USEFP is one of 51 ‘Fulbright Commissions’ located throughout the world.”


AAUW International Fellowships in USA for Women

The AAUW (the American Association of University Women) awards international fellowships for full-time study or research in the United States to international women.  A recipient of this type of fellowship cannot have a Green Card and should study or will study at an accredited institution at a graduate or postgraduate level.

Fellowship amounts for 2016-17:

  1. Master’s/Profession Fellowship: $18,000
  2. Doctorate Fellowship: $20,000
  3. Postdoctoral Fellowship: $30,000

The Asia Foundation Development Fellows Program

The program offers scholarships for Asian students to study in Asia and the U.S.

“The Asia Foundation is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia.

Golden Gate University Bita Daryabari Scholarship

This is a scholarship for students from the Middle East, including Pakistanis, to study at Golden Gate University in San Francisco.   The scholarship amount is $3,000 for a semester.

The scholarship is available to students from Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine (Gaza Strip and West Bank), Pakistan, Qatar, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates or Yemen


American University (AU) Emerging Global Leader Scholarship[

Only one international student is the recipient.

The recipient of the AU EGL is “dedicated to positive civic and social change, and will return home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in his/her home country.”

“The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition, room and board) for one international student who will need a visa (preferably an F-1 or J-1 student visa) to study in the United States. The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets and miscellaneous expenses (approximately U.S.$4,000 per year).”
